Why do people visit Kenya?

What are the main reasons for tourists visiting Kenya? Detailed answers only please!

Main four reasons to visit Kenya?

I'd say:
1. Safari - Kenya is one of Africa's famous safari destinations
2. African culture - the Masai Mara is one popular destination for this, but many people looking to experience African culture (traditional and modern) will go to Kenya.
3. Kenya is not a top tourist nation, so people who want to experience something different may find Kenya to be an interesting destination.
4. Volunteer work and missionary work are also very popular reasons for people traveling to Kenya.

your guess is as good as mine.

Its a typically wonderful african country, lovely people, beautiful weather and beaches, wildlife ..............I prefer it to west africa which is more muslim orientated ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I have nothing against that but it doesnt seem true africa to me

i can't speak for others but as for me, i am preparing to go to kenya for an international conference on aids/hiv.

i) Nairobi is a major connecting hub - to maximise your trip it would be no harm to spend a day or so to see the local sites.
ii) Has a massive Indian community - so some people would be visiting relatives
iii) It's an excellent transit point to the horn of Africa, The Congo and many other parts of africa.
iv) Nairobi like Addis Ababa [and Pretoria does not even match this] is in african politics one of the most influential cities in the region.Indeed regional headquaters of mega organisations like The Red Cross and IATA are based in Nairobi in the African continent.
v) Kenyans are by far and large some of the most polite people in the world
vi) The world Safari is of Kenyan origin -meaning bushwalk
vii) Half of vegetables & flowers you purchase in European markets are Kenyan
viii) Kenya has a measure of oil... it is very little to match that of other OPEC countries but it is there.

TO GET EBOLA

I am kenyan and so what i will tell you is the whole truth. Here are the reasons:
First and foremost: KENYA and KENYANS.
1. Kenyan hospitality is beyond reproach. You should visit the coastal region and experience the real hospitality. Everyone says hi to you.
2.The climate and weather friendliness. The sun rises daily at 5.30 am and sets at 6.30pm i would guess forever it shall. The only variations we have is the wet (rainy) and dry seaons which are well defined by history in the calender year.
3.There is more to just tourism. Cultural diversity, 42 ethnic groups each with a unique culture and all living harmoniously with each other.
4.Home to UNEP headquartes due to its vast accessibility and technological advancement.
5. Plenty of wildlife. we even have a game park in the Capital City where you can get 4 out of the world's big 5. Infact Nairobi is the only city in the world with a game park! We are the Home of the seventh World Wonder ie THE MAASAI MARA!!! Where wilderbeests migrates in their millions in a spectacle that has been described as a wonder of the world!!
7.Infrustructurally, we are advantage.
8.Business tourism is rising. Kenya has become like a hub for all other eastern and Central African countries for people who like business with fun.
9.All social ammenities, conferences, All stars hotel, sports facilities...including for those people who would like to participate in volunteerism.
10.The long sandy and white beaches which have marine parks.
11. The beautiful , panoramic, long and winding GREAT GREAT rift valley, on it base hosting, the hells gate National Park, the Lake Naivasha (for bird watchers), LAke Elementaita, LAke NAkuru (Home to the millions ofthe pink flamingos), lake Nakuru National Park (home to the black rhino), lake Baringo (flamingoes), Lake Bogoria (hot geishers and flamingoes and hundreds of bird species) and finally the Lake Turkana. There is also an amazing Kerio valley as you navigate the rift valley.
12. The only country which bisected into 2 halve by the Equator.
13.The list is long ..long and long.

ps. no Ebola in Kenya.

Kenya is a great tourist destination because it is a large country, with amazingly rich heritage and customs, and also with a lot to see and do: There is city life in Nairobi, beach life on the coast, safaris in the Masai Mara aswell as other areas, and lots of beautiful scenery to take in including the great rift valley. Is that a good enough reason to visit? It is for me!
