Traffic patterns in Kansas city, MO in the morning on 435?

I live in Springfield, MO and I have a flight out of Kansas City next week that leaves at 11:30 am. I plan on leaving at 5:30 am but i dont know how the traffic is, because I think by the time I get to KS, it will during the middle of rush hour and I might not have quite ENOUGH time to get to the airport for my flight. should i leave even earlier or should i leave at 5:30 or is there a better, less traveled route?

If you're planning on taking 71 to 435, then that area is going to be very congested in the morning. However, once you get there, I would definitely take 435 around the city and not 71 through it, unless you like being stopped at traffic lights.

You could take 150 (147th St) across to 69 and skip most of the rush hour traffic, since going west on 435 is much easier, traffic is much lighter, past 69. Leaving at 5:30 in the morning should give you plenty of time, though.

I personally think you are leaving way too early. Springfield to Kansas City International is about 3 hours I believe. And you only need to be at the airport giving yourself about an hour before your flight leaves.

You will hit traffic but it shouldn't be as bad as you're thinking.

I'd take 71 North to 435 North. Your traffic time in Kansas City should be NO MORE than one hour, worst case scenario.

I agree with Nillachi's directions. There is no need for you to go through Kansas or through downtown. However, I would still leave at 5:30 to allow for anything that might occur.

After 9a - it will only take 35 minutes to get from the south end to north end thru downtown. - you should be there by 10a for security and check in - so if you left at 9a then that would get your there..

Rush hour is from 7:30a to 8:30a - for the majority.
