It just cracks me up that I got thumbs down. There is a Clinton in everyone of those states. And I would vote for her if she was the only one on the ballot and they were giving $10,000 per vote Report It

If Obama will go I think we all can get the money to send him there

Obama in Japanese means "small shore".

However Barack Obama obviously wasn't named after the city nor the Japanese word Obama, nor was the city named after Barack Obama. It is just a coincidence.

Unlike the basketball player Kobe Bryant, whos parents specifically named him Kobe after seeing Kobe Steak on a menu at a Japanese restaurant.

There's a city in Japan named Usa, and things made in Usa have been said to have items engraved "Made in Usa". Which is different from Made in USA or U.S.A. However it is a small town and don't expect it to be making and exporting high end items or cars.

Just a small footnote in the books.

I don't think of it much at all.

The citizens of Obama Japan have been in the news lately because of this though.

Yes there is a city called Obama City in Japan. It is located in Fukui prefecture, and is a 3-4 hour train ride from Tokyo.
I doubt there is a connection though between the naming of Barak Obama and the naming of the city.

McCain also can be used for Japanese pun.

Make=lose
nai=not

Makenai--> Maken (short form)

Some old guy says "(I won't) maken".
So if you said "I won't McCain" in Japanese, it can be Japanese pun which means "I won't lose".

But I think he will lose....
