How are your family and cute dog?
I wanted to send this on New Years Day but "Happy New Year".
It is difficult for me to write what I really want to tell you in English, so I will write in Japanese this time.
I will write email in Japanese once in a while.
If you can't read this, tell me so. I will try writing in English.
If you don't mind, please write me in Japanese, Johnny.
Now I'm getting my driving licence but I just started practicing, so I still can't drive.
Do you have driving test or any sort to get a licence (in your country)?
It seldom snows in Tokyo, but this year we've had a lot.
It looks as if it will snow again tomorrow.
Did you have a good time at your party?
I spent time with my friend and her/his family on New Year's Eve and New Year's day.
It wasn't as big as Johnny's party. I envy you.
Now Japanese football team is in the Asian preliminaries.
We have a new coach, after the former coach, Osim had a cerebral hemorrhage.
Do you have any (big) sport events in Australia at the moment?
Have you ever heard of "tyuto no fue / Whistle of the Middle East *"?
You don't hear much about handball in Australia?
I have lots of things I want to tell you because it's been a while since I sent you an email last time.
But I've already wrote a lot today, so I will write you the later next time.
* "Whistle of the Middle East" is a term to say that middle eastern umpires always take sides with middle eastern handball teams, because the president of Asian Handball Federation is a Kuwaiti royal and the federation is supported financially by middle eastern royal families.
[Edit]
I read the whole original mail.
I write it in Japanese for someone who can translate better because I'm not good at writing in English.

I'm a Japanese i could but dont have anough time so go onto microsoft word then find translate text and click english then highlight your text then click copy then go onto your email and paste in the writting box then send it sorry just tryed and failed really sorry i dont think this is in japaneese You did a fine job in English, Laika5. I wish you had typed the Japanese earlier. Translating that once was enough for me. 鏈綋銇嫳瑾炪伅涓婃墜銇犮倛銆?br>
George: I'm glad a literal translation helped you, but we're trying to help the person who asked the question. I have two challenges with your letter. The first is that it is in romaji (I have a hard time reading it) and second, the person writing it did not write it correctly so I have to guess some of the words.
OK here goes....
Sorry to have taken so long to write. How are you? Your family is good-looking/cute.
I should have really sent New Year's greetings at the beginning of the year.
I decided to write in Japanese today because it is difficult to do so in English. I will also write in Japanese occasionally from here on. If you can't read it, I'll make an effort to write in English. If you'd like, you can also write to me in Japanese.
I am now trying to get my driver's license. I have only just started (taking lessons) so I can't drive as yet. Do you have to take an exam to get your license too? (What are some things you have to do to get your license?)
Snow rarely falls in Tokyo but this year we've had a lot!! It is supposed to snow tomorrow too.
Did you have a good time at the party? I spent the end-of-year and new year with a friend and her/his family. It was wonderful. It was nothing as luxurious as your party though....(Sigh) I envy you/must be nice... (that sort of meaning).
Japan is now playing soccer in the qualifiers (for the Asian Cup?). Oshimu, the manager, got a brain injury and have had to be replaced. What kind of sports do you play in Australia?
Johnny, do you know a bit about Japanese handball? Can you play handball in Australia?
**EDIT** Thanks Laika5 for explaining the "whistle of the Middle East". You learn something new everyday! I liked Webangel translation; it was more literally translated...It helped me get some practice in Japanese translating.
But "tutaenikui" is a word.
it comes from "tsutaeru", which means "to tell" and "nikui" which is an add-on to verbs and means "difficult"
so "tsutaenikui" ---- "hard to say". |
