"Moving to Japan..." ...AGAIN?

People keep saying "I'm thinking of moving to Japan". I don't think I'm going to bother reading these anymore. Read the answers given to other people who think they can just pack their bags and arrive on the shores of Japan and start a new life.

I just had to vent. Thank you.

As an English-speaker, I feel I can say this. English speakers are often arrogant. They think that no matter where they go, they can just start babbling in English and everyone should feel obliged to answer. I see this in my own country even in non English-speaking areas.

I think I have a template answer set up, someone asks the same question over and over again, I just copy and paste the same answer.

But I understand what you mean.

I'm not against people wanting to move to Japan.
However I often find that people don't have realistic goals; just don't understand the proper requirements. Or some just have a have a completely convoluted or delusional view of Japan based on what they have read or seen in the media.

Mr. Canoe, NO ONE understood what you were saying! Report It

lol

I'm not sure why people are lured to the idea of moving to japan. I was too after a couple of vacations there, and I hated living there! japan puts forth an image that the reality can't back up...

Japan is nice.

I agree. That's the majority of what I see.
I want to be an English teacher and I think I'd like to teach in Japan for a couple of years...but giving of my citizenship in the US...I don't think so.
I think people really don't consider the reality of what they are talking about, even though they so they do. They have this allusion that Japan is this unreal, amazing place. Japan is admirable but I wouldn't want to live there.
It's not all the people who say that they want to move to Japan who are delusional, but for the most part, they want to move there because it's some kind of fantasy world for them. I understand the appeal of Japan but people need to consider so much more than just "how cool it is."
