What bank notes should I take to Bali when going on holiday?

Please let me know, thanks

Probably it's best to take USD, but Euros and British pounds are also as good.

If you want to be safe, take like 500USD in bills or its equivalent and the rest to be travellers' cheques.

Keep your wallet in your front pocket, be it in trousers or shirt pocket, if you can get a belt bag, it would be even better.

Rupiah denominations came from its highest 100.000 rupiah, 50.000, 20.000, 10.000, 5.000, and 1.000. Small change from 1.000, 500, 200 and 100.

If you want to buy some stuffs, it's better to haggle first, since the local peddlers usually set the price really high. Cut the price from what they are offering by at least half if you want that stuff, like beads, t-shirts, etc. Even when they say, they can't make a profit, just head off somewhere else to look around, and return later to ask for the same price or just raise it a little. Buying stuff in rupiah is alot better than buying them in USD.

Try to find rupiah in your country's currency exchange, usually only the 100.000 denominations are available. You can also exchange your money in Bali, but do make sure you do it in a bank or like a licensed currency exchange. For restaurants, you should be able to go for fine dining(should cost just about the same in your country) or casual dining(should be a lot cheaper) or side-street dining(really cheap, but I won't recommend you to eat from the side-street right after you came in, since you might get dysentry)

People in Bali would understand English, though most would be like broken english, but do be careful of pickpockets and purse-snatchers. Ahh, one more thing, don't get caught carrying drugs or marijuana or ecstasy in your person, since it's a felony in Indonesia.

US $ are probably best. If you take Sterling, make sure it doesn't have any writing on it as they'll probably be rejected.

You need to pay US$25 to enter and this must be in $. The last time I went I think the exit fee was 100,000 Rupiah..

Safe journey.

Take sterling or travellers cheques and change the money in the airport or hotel when you arrive!
Have a lovely holiday!

Just take Sterling and look out for the money changer booths that are dotted all over. They can give you better exchange rates, but always count your money carefully before you leave the premises and check the notes for authenticity.

Take Sterling or US Dollars, no probs with either. A little bit of advice. When leaving Bali Make sure that your baggage is not overweight, They weigh it when you check in and this includes Hand carried bags. If it is over weight they will not let you check in until you Pay SEVEN DOLLARS A KILO & they are extremely strict on this.

The local shops accepts Rupiahs (Rp), larger shops may accept USD, Pound & Euros..

But if you wish to bring some of your local currency, find a reputable money changer to change your money. As some may offer 'higher exchange rate' to lure you into changing with them but rip you off with 'commssions'.. Giving you a poorer exchange rate.

But from experience, I do enjoy better exchange rate when changing @ Bali as compared to my country. Of course, while doing this all @ a reputable money changer.

just take US dollar, you can pay everything with dollar, but i think it would be better if you change some of your dollar to indonesian rupiah. it is because the price will be a little cheaper in rupiah, beside you could get more money in rupiah just for one or two dollars.

As gesr04 has been thouroughly answered the question-aside from some hotels, resto.store accept other currency like US$,Euros or Sterling-, I may just say do not bother bringing other currency since IDR/Rupiah is making every transactions less complicated , just bring your local currency and have them changed in money changer in Bali which has better rate as percinta wanita has said earlier. I could recommend PT Central Kuta as one of the authorized reputable money changer and you can find them easily in Bali. Credit card also well accepted in Bali except at some small stores, souvenir shop or art market. :)

Be simple and straight. jus take IDR (Indonesia Rupiah) with u. No hassles..... Use ur cedit card only in Leading Establishments. Gud luck for safe journey
