Can you recommend an island where I can hike around?

It depends on what you are looking for. There are some great places to hike in Bali or Lombok. Alternatively, you could try hiking in places like Borneo, Kalimantan and Papua or even volcano hiking in Krakatoa.

The islands of Indonesia are the coolest places in the world to hike, at least in my opinion.
I worked in Taman Nasional Komodo and I assure you that you won't be allowed to hike there, unaccompanied by the Polhut. (park rangers).
