Visa on arrival?

I'm visiting Indonesia in Dec and saw that it is easy to just get a visa on arrival.. My Indonesian husband is quite leery of the idea; saying that they sometimes take you to a separate room and make you pay more than the recommended $25 fee.

Is this true and if so what's the best way to apply here in the States?

you better apply visa in the USA. You'll have abt 2 months ( pay less ) than pay on the arrival. Cost abt $ 25 bucks/30 days.

My friend's husband applied it to the local consulate ( depends on where you live ).

You just need to apply it by online, and will receive it within days ( send your passport all together to the consulate ).

Good luck!!! Dec will be the best moment to be together with the family.

PS : Just came back home from I( Sumatra ) Indo this Aug, 1.5 months

Hmm.. I've never been to a separate room before. There's a line to the booth to get the 30 day visa. It's pretty much out in the open. You should be okay.

I was there recently as I am american. It was very easy and as smooth as can be. Maybe if you look suspicious but no worries.

check your options at the Indonesian Embassy website

hi,
you can apply for visa here on-line

Visa on arrival is issued to certain nationalities. Check with your nearest Indonesian diplomatic mission whether you need a visa prior to arrival or are eligible for a visa on arrival or meet the visa waiver system.

I tried getting the required info from IATA but their server appears to be down at this moment and will try to upgrade the information later.

One tip: Visa on arrival at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport can be a time consuming process.
