Where can I find really good ice cream in Jakarta?

I'm a kind of an ice cream snob, and I'm trying to find some really good quality ice cream or gelato in Jakarta. I've been to several local places, and they were all below average compared to what I'm used to in the U.S. Please help me!

Thanks for the responses, but when I say I'm a snob, I mean I'm a reeeally picky connoisseur. Haagen Dazs is overly sweet and uses a lot of preservatives. Baskin Robbins is so sweet that it's really for children. I've been to Gelare and two other gelato places in Plaza Indonesia, and I've been to Pisa Cafe. I wasn't happy with any of them. I need some gourmet, really fresh ice cream made with good quality cream/milk. The ones I've tried here are too icy, too sweet, and too watery. More suggestions?

I agree, there's no really good ice cream in Indonesia, just like there's no really good pizza in Indonesia. I think the best ice cream I've tasted come from the 5 star hotel's restaurants, like C's at Hyatt Hotel. If you're patient enough, the Cold Stone Creamery franchise is opening up soon in Jakarta. Gosh, I hope they make it right when they bring it over to Jakarta, cause somehow it's always lost in "translation" (read: Burger King, Pizza Hut, etc).

I love ice cream too. Well, popular ice cream brand in Jakarta is like, Haagen Dazs, Baskin Robin, Gelatissimo. I'm satisfied with Haagen Dazs in Plaza Senaya. Baskin Robin for me is in Pondok Indah Mall 1, Gelatissimo in Senayan City. There's the places I used to go for ice cream. That's just my opinion anyway

You should realize that american taste of ice cream is maybe different from local taste of ice cream. it is a bit unfair to judge that local ice cream is below average compared to american ice cream.

you can try the ice cream at Pisa Cafe or Gelato Bar

Pisa Kafe: Jl Gereja Theresia 1, Jakarta 10350
Tel.: (62)(21) 3100151

Gelato Bar Plaza Indonesia EX Lt.1 No. 37, Jakarta
Phone 021 - 3151874

Hrrm, well, since you're picky, I guess you could ask for Es Puter, I myself didn't live or visited Jakarta for long. I doubt many places will hold that kind of ice cream, since it's quite time-consuming to make this kind of ice cream.

The standard ice cream model in Indonesia are either Campina or Walls. If you don't like either of them, then I doubt you will find any better brand in here.

As it is, try and ask for Es Puter in some restaurants, usually those that have them are local restaurants, I have one in my hometown at Malang, but it's about as expensive as Baskin Robbins. Though, maybe you have to buy in half a litre pack or a litre pack.

You could try an ice cream place at "Plaza Arcadia" which is located at the back of "Plaza Senayan". The place is very easy to find, it's not far from the entrance.

If you're craving for American ice cream, just get Ben and Jerry at Sogo Food Hall.

What's wrong with you people? ;p
The best ice cream in town is Es Krim Ragusa. It's near the National Monument (Monas)...eee... I forget the street name. Maybe at Jalan Veteran.
Es Krim Ragusa is home-made, delicious ice cream ever. The owner was Italian immigrant who brought the original recipe from that country. The store lasts for decades.

in pisa cafe, the cafe located in central jakarta, called menteng. it's right in front of st. theresia school

If you just want a pint of Ben and Jerry's they usually have it at Caswell's Moms. Huize Van Wely has excellent ice cream and other deserts, actually, everything there is good...

You know what?

You need to go to Singapore and try their "Turkish" Ice Cream.

SO GOOD!

baskin robins

Go to my house, i'll make you the best ice cream that will make your brain frozen and your eyes seeing burning flame.

its inside my pants..
