How do i obtain an Indonesian police certificate?

usa male marrying an indonesian next year... us embassy not answering email....

I think the police certificate here means that you need to get a letter from the police that explains you never involve in criminal activities (in Indonesia they call it Surat Kelakuan Baik). I think they require this before you get a married certificate.
What you need to do is go to the local police in your fiancee's hometown and ask that you want to make "Surat Kelakuan Baik". The documents that you should bring: your passport, your fiancee's passport/ID and your fiancee's family card (Surat Keluarga).
Theoritically, it's not supposed to be hard to obtain this certificate. If some officers give you a hard time, just give them 20,000-25,000 rupiah (about USD 2-3) and tell them this is for your coffee/cigarette money. I think your fiancee should be familiar with this kind a practices. Hopefully, you don't have to do this bribery thing. I heard the new government has cleaned up these kind a practices these days. Good luck and congratulations.

well you enroll, follow a training... that kind of stuff.

But why do you want to be a police in Indonesia anyway? The pay is not that good and there is a lot of corrupt policemen in Indonesia. I would prefer to stay in the US if I were you.

if you are a foreigner, you don't need that letter to get married.
are you usa male? hehehe

Regretfully I don't know the docs requirements for foreigner marrying Indonesian, but I do know the requirements for expatriate working in Indonesia.

Maybe you need to get a clearer few on what kind of "police certificate" needed. It's weird, usually US emb gives a hand easily to its citizen.
Why don't your fiancee help you? If she's in Indonesia, she could call US embassy and ask for help. I mean, it's easier, rather than you're keep waiting for a reply from the emb.

For expat working in Indonesia, there are two kinds of police certificates required. 1) Report Certificate of the District Police, where you are reporting your whereabouts to the district police station. 2) Certificate of Police Registration, where you have to be registered at the Indonesian Police Headquarter as an expatriate who are staying and working in Indonesia.

Those two certificates, however, are in the bottom of series of docs needed (more than a dozen docs).
