Where to look for local food at Bali? I'm sick of expensive restaurant that only serves western cuisine..?

im over to Bali this mid of September, my last visit, i really can't find any local food, except that seafood at Jimbaran was great(by the way, there r so many seafood restaurant at Jimbaran bay, which is the best?)

tell you this.... go to Warung Made. they have 2 outlet. one in seminyak and in kuta. very easy to find. they serve local bali food such as nasi campur bali (try that)
for jimbaran, try the one near four season, the one with wooden beach chair, it's better. remember, when n jimbaran, always ask how much first. other wise they will hit you like crazy.
You can try soto ceker and lots of local food in teuku umar, denpasar but near to seminyak area.
Satay Penyu (big turtle) not recomended. Bali also has lots of pork cuisine, afterall they are hindus.

Try this www.baliwall.com under eatingout ... and find your diets there. Good luck! Report It

Try Padang Food. Hot and spicy.
Once you enjoy Padang food, others are just boring.

there's a lot of rice-seller in the streets which open from about 4-5pm till midnite, the rice called "nasi jinggo".
only Rp. 1000 (less than US$ 10cent) each.
you should eat 2-3 portion may be...
the ingredients are rice, a bite of pork or chicken, tempe or any other vegetables.
just ask the locals where you can get those rice-sellers.

there are a lot of nice balinese restaurant which well balinese pork. I suggest "Gemah Ripah" in Supratman Street in Denpasar. it's not expensive for sure, and their "babi guling" (roasted pork) is very delicious.

try...ayam bakar (grill chicken) plengkung in Tuban
babi guling (roasted pork) in Ubud and Sunset Road (Kuta)
Bebek(Duck) Bengil or Ayam (Chicken) Betutu in Ubud
