Is there such thing as the Indonesian mafia?

Like the Japanese are the Yakuzas and the Chinese have the Triads.

Yes there are mafias in Indonesia. Mafia: is used to further or protect private interests, reputedly by illegal methods. (Webster's Dictionary).
In that essence, the Indonesian government (police, army, other branches) is the biggest and strongest mafia in Indonesia.

Don't hate me coz I'm right

Yer theres a mafia everywhere and yep that means probly indonesia i dunno though i really dont give a sh!t i dont live in indonesia soo yeh....

Yes there are...from the organized one to the mafia-to-be in traditional market

Yep there are. One of the most lucrative thing they run at this moment is bootlegged products - DVDs (distribution and production), CDs, jeans, whatever that can be counterfeited.

Yes, there are some organized crimes in Indonesia. But they're not as big as Yakuza or Triads.

There is no Indonesian mafia like Yakuzas or Triad, but like in every country in the world there are criminals in Indonesia.

the government itself is the mafia !

of course. there are some in indonesia...after all indonesia is the 5th population in the world.
even in the government there was this b******* mafia. it's the name of a reputable university. then they choose person who graduate from that university to key posisition.
some mafia in Indonesia is really legit, they use certain religion or ethnicity to legalize their crime.
i'm sorry i can't name them here.... after all they are Mafia...
what do you think? i'm already in danger saying this

oh yes, they called themselves the 'MAPIAU' man. Mapiau! Mapiau!

Yeah, I live in Indonesia and there are so many crimes happen everyday! That's all because of the mafia...

I will say yes, like protection racket.

Evry town has their own mafia...most of my friend's father is mafia i Indo..

I would go with what 'Ecyta' said.

If you're asking about mafia like Yakuza and Triad, I guess there's no such thing like them.
But if you're talking about powerful untouchable person, there are many. They do the business both legal and illegally. They are untouchable because they get government officials to be their inner circle. They use their extraordinary wealth to get whatever they want to get, to conquer whatever they want to conquer.

I kno that there is a movie about it!

Yes of course.
Every country has organized crimes.
