I am goin to bali in june my b/f says that i shouldnt take a hand bag with me or wear one while im there?

is it that bad that i cnt take it
thanx

no its ok lots of tourguides say that Bali is safe. just need to be cautious. if you feel scared then just put your handbag on the hand not beside the road. because there's a possibility (I'm not gonna say that it will happen)that a hooligan on motorcycle will take it... or just use a backpack

I don't see any problem of you taking a handbag while in Bali.

I have been to Bali for 4 years consequently since 2004 and I have not seen or heard of snatch thief. I have been told that such things happening in Bali is very rear. Bali is one of the safest place in Indonesia. I felt very safe in Bali all the time when I am down there. You just have to be street wise, that all!

Petty street crimes in Bali are very rare.
So don't worry you can take a hand bag with you.
Bon Voyage...

it's quite safe in bali. you can take any kind of bags with you. just don't leave it unattended.

I travel to Bali quite frequently, and have never had any problems like this. I have heard 'stories' of it, but not from anybody who anyone actually knew. I have been to lots of different countries and feel very safe in Bali. Just be precautious, as you would whilst travelling anywhere, one thing I try to do is walk on the inside of my boyfriend, so that my bag is not close to the street, as the 'stories' i have heard involve somebody riding up on a motorbike and snatching a bag. I have been travelling frequently there with friends and my boyfriend since I was 16, always have a bag with me and no problems to report. Relax, and have a good time - but just take the precautions tat you would anywhere else. If you are worried maybe take an over the shoulder bag and wear it across your chest, or put your things in your boyfriends pockets.

I have just been to Bali again a few weeks ago and I must say it's a really safe place.
i think it's unsafer in European cities than in Bali, in Amsterdam or London I would be very careful with not putting a wallet in my back pocket and hide my mobile phone somewhere non-obvious for fear of getting it snatched / pickpocketed.

In Bali, depending where you go, but even in Kuta, which is the busiest area, I was having my wallet and my mobile in my pockets and/or in my handbag without fear.

I just returned yesterday. I carried my handbag everywhere and never hat to worry. The people in general like tourists and want them to return. Not much petty crime. I felt safe the whole time I was in Bali.

dont worry.actuallu Balinese people are nice people.only those from the Jawa are making the place look worse.just use a backpack when u move around.dont take alot of money around.and do bargain when buying.hehe.if u do to buy sovenirs that are cheap,do go to fatmawati(if i get the name right lol),that the place to buy cheap.really cheap.about 1hr drive from Kuta.have a good holiday.

Take your handbag. I have been to Bali lots of times and never had a problem.
Hell i feel safer there than I do here!
