What national bank chains are there in Hawaii?

I haven't been to HI in almost 4-5 years and I was wondering what national banks there are in the state? I remember a while ago there was Bank Of america but the last few times I went there were none anymore, is that still the case? I have Washington Mutual but I don't see any there either. Could someone just please list a few national bank chains that are in Hawaii and more specifically the Big Island and Kona area?

Neither Bank of America or Washington Mutual have locations in Hawaii.

Our banks tend to be locals banks such as First Hawaiian Bank, American Savings Bank, and Bank of Hawaii. However, most banks here in Hawaii belong to the Star system so regardless of the bank that you go to here in Hawaii, you'll be able to get money from the ATM using your ATM card and PIN number. You may be charged an ATM fee however, so check with Washington Mutual what the charges would be before you get here.

Another option would be to get traveler's cheques from Washington Mutual and use them to get cash when purchasing items. Most stores will take them and give you back cash in change.

BofA sold their branches to one of hte local banks. So the only banks I know of that have branches in Hawaii are military ones, like Navy Federal Credit Union and they are mainly on Oahu & Kauai.

No Wamu, but the ATMs all take your ATM card. Most national banks are not retail.
