Is there any really good cures for travel sickness?

I get really travel sick and i'm going on holiday to Dorset next week, does anybody know any really good cures?

Thank You for helping!

I suffered when I was a kid. I would try to sit up front of whatever vehicle I was traveling in. That helped a lot because the brain knows you are moving but your eyes send a different signal - the inside of the vehicle which is stationary. The result is a combination of confusing signals which ends in PUKE TIME!

It would also depend on how good the driver is. I used to travel with my nan, she was a terrible driver, I puked every time!

Sleep through the journey, that also helps.

Travel sickness pills also work well.

stay at home
boiled sweets sometimes help

Sit under a tree.

Dramamine works wonder. Available at your local pharmarcy.

I drink ginger tea (twinings is best), it works wonders!

ginger nut biscuits are fantastic

My sister gets travel sick and finds that 'seaband' help. They are worn on the wrist and have a bit that presses on an acupuncture point that you can press when you feel unwell. Also sniffing peppermint oil from a tissue.

Try sitting in the front, less claustrophobic and as Deeb says ginger is a good help, even ginger biscuits.
We used to give ginger on our dogs food before we went any distance in the car with him and never had a problem, yet without it he was literally " sick as a dog"

During the war, the pharamaceutical company I later worked for were tasked by the government, who were planning 'D day' with producing a product which would prevent sickness while crossing the channel while not causing drowsiness or any other sedative effect.

They came up with 'Kwells' which is still available today with minimal side effects.

I used to be sick when I was young, I couldnt go more than two or three bus stops without throwing up. An old lady told my Mum to sit me on a brown paper bag and eat an apple. In complete desperation we tried it, and I promise you I have never been travel sick since!!!!!!!

I went on a cruise last summer with my friend. one night it was quite choppy and my friend felt seasick so she went back to the cabin for some sea sickness pills she had brought, after a little while I asked if they were starting to work, to which she replied no and that she was going to bed. She got up the following morning to discover that she had taken a Strepsil, no wonder she did not feel any better.
So the moral of the story is make sure you take the right tablets. She didn`t have a sore throat though, ha ha!
