My parents want to take me on a cruise, but im kinda nervous because i've never been on one...?

my parents want to take me and two of my friends on a cruise for my 16th birthday. i would really like to go because i've heard its tons of fun, but im kind of scared because of that movie poseidon, and the titanic. i know its a little stupid but my worst fear is drowning. is there a such thing as road waves like in that movie? if there is, is it likely to happen? because i would like to be able to go and not worry about that.
we were going to go on the disney criuse, so idk how far out in the ocean they go, etc. has anyone ever been on a cruise? is it that bad?

Rouge waves as they are known (large waves without any storm front or similar) are possible but extremely rare events, on a similar scale as a catastrophic earthquake occurring at any specific location (ie it really is not gonna happen).

Also to be fair the era is well beyond what it was in titanic ships are far safer, weather prediction is very accurate, ships are equipped with the latest in sonar (which would detect an iceberg if one came within a few dozen miles many times more than the distance needed to avoid it), full doplar radar which can see bad weather for miles around, satellite and GPS tracking and communications with constant links to ground control and satellite weather pictures to give even more information on weather conditions globally (not just locally), in fact with these systems it is likely any rouge wave of enough size to be a threat to the massive cruise ships of today with all their technology and designed to be able to withstand serious storms (up into the hurricane range) would almost certainly be trackable via one of the on board systems, satellites, seismographs or the many buoys located at sea to study weather scientifically and thus the ability would almost certainly exist to alert any vessels of their approach with time to spare.

So in all you have nothing to worry about except perhaps the risk of feeling a little sea sick if you are not used to it, but todays medications for that are extremely effective.

You are LUCKY and your parent mu.......no.........MUST be RICH...........You are SO LUCKY, and have such incredible parents who know it is important for you to "get over" your fear of being on the ocean and are willing to put themselves through the hassle of taking you.......putting their money on the line........willing and BELIEVE there is not a problem (there isn't) to PROVE to their beloved child.

YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE IT & it will just be the 1st cruise of many and you will FOREVER be grateful to your parents for this. This is NOT the same era of titanic.........so SO many times you will see other ships along the way.........you will NOT go where the water is so/SO cold. You will be very grateful for every single minute..................Hopefully you will tell your parents SO many times how lucky you are and how grateful you are...........cause YOU ARE

Okay, first off if the ship was unsafe, they wouldn't let you on it !Oh and before you leave from the port, they do a safety drill, just fyi( if anything were to happen which it won't but, its just like being on an airplane and listening to the flight attendant explain safety processes) Anyways, Its a lot of fun! Enjoy your trip! Oh and a word of advice if you've never been on a crusie buy some motion sickness either tabs on the patches they help a bunch!

there are no big oh waves i promise you
cruise drivers are smart and stay clear of any possible tides
i've been on three cruises going on y fourth this spring break
and the first one i was really scared too cause i had never been off land
so i felt wierd the first day
could feel the boat moving and stuff
but the next day was fine.
didnt feel the boat so much as creak
and there IS so much to do especially if its a disney cruise it should be awsome
to reasure yourself you may want to check the weather when you are leaving and if there are any hurricanes or stuff around planned
oh and the last cruise i went on we were suppose to port at Costa Maya but it was too windy and the waves were crazy by the port so we just had a day at sea. they arent dumb like in movies lol

wow i have the same thoughts about cuises now that ive seen the titanic and poseidon... and yeah there are such things as rogue wave as in poseidon. wikipedia said they are very rare so i dont think it would happen... ive never been on a cruise but my best friend goes on one every summer and she says they are really fun...
