Why are street lights orange? (the bulbs, why are they orange?)? Yep. The sodium bulbs used in street lamps are very energy efficient, which is an advantage considering how many street lamps there are across an entire country using electricity that has to be paid for one way or another. the fog i believe, you can see better I suspect (but don't actually know) that it's part of an effort to minimize light pollution, throwing enough light for people to see by without making things so bright the night sky and stars are no longer visible. idk- the ones near where I live are L.E.D.S so they shine blue and its really annoying when its ranning outside, but other than that the leds are cool and make the ground blue sodium lighting give better visability,also cheaper to run long term. |
