Do you think that "cycle clubs"should be banned from riding 2 abreast? |
How many times have you been on a weekend trip and had to sit for miles at 15 mph behind these inconsiderate morons in their ridiculous outfits because they will not move into single file and let the traffic jam behind them pass? I am talking about cycling clubs with possibly over 60 bikes taking up a long stretch of road and riding two abreast. You can`t overtake them. I cycle almost daily and it does bother me when you see cyclists riding two abreast when there is not room to do so. Just remember, they have a right to the road same as a car, but most should use the shoulder or bike lane when they can, but don't expect them to ride in the dirt because they can't. As far as there ridiculous outfits, they where them for a darn good reason. It's because they first have padding in them, they absorb sweat, and they don't fit loose so nothing will get caught anywhere. By the way cyclist are suppose to obey the same rules of the road as a car driver ( like pulling over when 5 or more cars are behind you). Hi! well at least they are out getting fit Totally agree - when they start paying road tax it won't be so annoying! Why is it that one arrogant car driver thinks he has more rights to be on this planet that two cyclists. We're all human beings. The fact that you have half a ton of polluting steel around you doesn't make you God. I agree its annoying, but if you overtake someone you should do it on the other side of the road, leaving a safe gap so if their two a breast it should make no difference. Many cyclists are killed when they are pushed onto the curb by cars overtaking to closely to them on the same side of road. Most cyclists pay road tax as very few people can live without a car so a bit of give and take on both sides wouldn't hurt. My brother was in so such club and was training one day, with a professional team, in preparation to go professional and maybe 1 day ride the tour de france, which as been his ambition since he was 10. They were what is called time trailing and have to go 2 abreast for the matter of seconds. My brother had just come off the front and some motorist decided to clip his wheel. He fell off his bike and skidded and nearly went under the car going the opposite direction. He had his helmet on but still had some serious injures. He never got to ride professional, cause of the idiot, who thought the cyclist a) didn't need any room when the motorcar went past and b) He did stop but **** himself and drove off when he saw my brother was injured. Cyclist have got as much right on the road as a car. Overtake them, but give them some room. Push bikes are a danger to them self go down the side of you in traffic then slow everything down. There's no need to overtake them. I think you'll find cyclists are softer than your car bumper! when cyclists pay road tax they should get equal rights but until then keep them off the roads!! Rule 66 in the High Way Code states 'that cyclists should not ride more than two abreast.' FirstlyI the highway code states that it's illegal to ride side by side on bicycles on British roads. |
