How has health and safety changed on the planes since 1960?

e.g. did the plane have breathing masks, and what year did they get installed onto planes

Well many planes of that era were un presureized and if you had a bad tooth and didnt know it, you found out real quick at 8000 ft. ive actually laid in the floor it hurt so bad,, but as the jet age came along more safety precautions were built into aircraft. Slide used to be just an old cloth looking thing,not a big plastic raft. the oxygen mask were used even back in ww2 as like the b-17 would fly so high you wore suits that you pluged in heaters with and the oxygen mask would usually frost up or freeze up... on the first generation jets they had the airvents and lights built into the back of the seat in front of you ,like the dc-8,, later they moved them to above,

Some of the older jets and props would shoot a flame out the back on strtup of unburnt fuel, i think if that happend today people would evacuate the plane...lol but it was a common thing then, Many lives were lost accidently walking into props and when the new jets came online there were ramp personell they were injested as there were no guidelines on how far to stay back...

Although the technology has improved, drop masks for oxygen have been around since at least the first jets appeared in airline service in the 1950's. These were the first really high altitude machines that demanded individual passenger service for this feature, although similar arrangments were showing up in the advanced high-performance pressurized piston powered liners of the late forties, etc.
