A nice reasonably priced hotel in Guadalajara?

Can anyone recommend a good hotel in Guadalajara? I need one that is fairly quiet, maybe a two-star, clean, safe, and reasonably priced.

Also, as long as you are recommending this hotel, what sights in Guadalajara should I not miss? I love museums and culture.

Due to my job I have to travel a lot around M茅xico. In my experience a trustworthy Mexican hotel chain which is reasonably priced, clean, and with great locations is Fiesta Americana: http://www.fiestaamericana.com. They have two types of hotels: 1) Fiesta Americana (4 - 5 stars, excellent hotels); and 2) Fiesta Inn (3 stars, business class, excellent, clean, ideal locations, and cheap!).

Regarding sightseeing, the must see place I can recommend is Tlaquepaque. Small typical town that produces local "artesan铆as". Beautiful place. Go to the "Casa Canela" you can have an excellent breakfast or luch while browsing for local "artesan铆as". Another beautiful place is Tonal谩, also very typical, a lot of local shops.

You can't miss the Guadalajara Cathedral, it's amazing.

One last recommendation, in Guadalajara you can get the finest selection of traditional Mexican Tequilas: try "Tequila del Viejito", "Gran Reserva de la Familia" or "Chamuco". These are fine mexican tequilas, quite different from the products you get in the supermarket!

Don't forget GDL is the birthplace of Mariachi music. Go to Plaza Bonita and there are travel agencies that can set you up on tour buses that will take you on the "tequila tours" for $40-50. An all day affair that includes samples of the tequila! Go downtown to the "centro historico" and take a $25 or so ride in the Horse-drawn carriages. Bring a camera since you will not want to forget the experience. Check out Vicente Fernandez's restaurant, "los tres potrillos" on the highway to Chapala.
