Is anyone familiar with Guadalajara, Mexico?

How is the crime rate, and the poverty? Is it much better/safer/cleaner then Mexico City? Anyone who has been there extensively or lives there (or has relatives there, whatever) please give me any information you have thanks!

Don麓t panic: crime rate is pretty low, and poverty is not right there in your face. Is better, safer and cleaner than Mexico City...in fact is a lovely city with all the modern confort but with the flavor of old towns.

There are beautiful women and gorgeous men (they are famous for their big eyes), food is great, and there are a lot of little towns to go craft shopping.

The weather is quite hot but it gets chilly in winter...if you have plans to study or live there you will find everything you need to have a good, healthy and fun life...don麓t worry!

Hi, I live in Mexico City and have been to GDL a few times. GDL is cleaner, safer and quieter than Mex City. If you are trying to decide between the two, for example for where to live, GDL is much quieter, has less crime and less traffic. The traffic can wear one out in Mex City!

If you are going to live in either city and are a foreigner, check out www.mexpat.com. There are regular social gatherings in both GDL and Mex City, so you can make some contacts quickly.

If you want to live in a big city, but not an overly chaotic one, GDL would be the better choice - in my opinion.
