My pets to Mexico?

I have 2 old dogs, 1 young adult dog 2 cats and 4 birds.
We will be driving there. What I am worried about is... Do we need any records from the vets. And I have an Illigers Macaw, a Cockatiel and 2 Parakeets. Will they let me have them? Do they have to be kept for any amount of time? If they are 'detained' what is the probability that someone would steal my Illigers and just call it something like....'he just flew away'. I am really paranoid about all of my animals. And I am really trying to calm my nerves by finding out all that I can... Good and Bad.
I know that there are allot of new things going on since 9/11 about borders and the such.
AND... I also need to know... how hard is it to get back across the border to the U.S. with all of my 'kids'.
Please, tell me as much as you possibly can!

The birds, I don't know. As far as the dogs and cats, when you cross in either direction, you just need current vaccination and health certificates. There is no quarantine on either side if you have those papers. Have fun!

I think the problem will be re-entering the USA. Call a check point and ask
