I lived in Guadalajara for several years. It has grown considerably since I was last there. Much cleaner than Mexico City. The people are friendlier. The expat community is a great resource. Lake Chapala is an hour away and worth the trip. This city is the home of the mariachi's. I can't tell you what you missed, there's too much to list.
