How many Greek islands are there?

Yes the Aegean and Ionian sea have about 1400 islands from which only about 227 of them are inhabited whith many islands having only a family or maybe an old couple.
At the Ionian sea there are 7 main islands and at Aegean there are many complexes of islands such as Cyclades, Sporades and Dodecanese (in my opinion Cyclades have the best islands in Aegean such as Santorini, Folegandros, Ios e.t.c.).
Most of these islands confront a shortage of water that is destroying the economy and the agricultural production of these islands.
For example Santorini has a very small wine production,but its the same infertile volcanic land that makes the island's wine one of the best in the world.
Greek islands don't have to offer places full of green but it's the simpicity of their sites that makes them beautiful and unique.

wikipedia says about 1400 islands so the rest out of those 6000 would be islets and smaller such pieces of land
