Piraeus, Greece?

Would we be better off walking or hiring a cab to go from the ship in Piraeus to the Acropolis. We are looking forward to seeing it but we do not want to be so tired that we can not enjoy it. Thanks for you help.

Take a cab, but first ask the price. The distance is quite long to be done on foot. If you go off a cruise ship, the taxis are directly outside the building that is used for the cruise ships.
Before getting in, check the price, anything over 50 Euros is out of the question.

Walking? No way!
Hiring a cab won't make you tired but it's more expensive than the subway. The station is near the port, ask for the ''treno'' or ''ilektrikos'' to Athens. Get off at ''Omonoia'' (pronounced o-m'o-nia) station and change for line 2 I think. Towards the direction of ''Agios Dimitrios''. After ''Omonoia'',the stops that follow are: ''Panepistimio'', ''Syntagma'', ''Akropoli''. Get off there and you will have arrived. The ticket from Piraeus to Akropoli costs 0.80 euro-that's 80 cents. You use 1 ticket, even if you change lines.
You won't be tired.
Enjoy!

take the train ( ''ilekrikos'' in greek) from piraeus to kifissia and get down to monastiraki...u wont walk more than 15 mins from there and u will be able to see plaka and the acropolis of course....these 2 areas are soooo close....we use to walk every Sunday and sit for coffee or lunch....u will see more on that way on less time and the ticket cost 0.80鈧?meaning 80 cents 1 ticket for each adult and for kids until 10 it's free of cost

Get the metro better...
Take the train from pireus and change to monastiraki station....for getting the metro line to acropolis or walk from monastiraki station 10 minutes to go to acropolis
Enjoy your tour in Athens
