I was absolutely astounded of how many people can fall preys under such propaganda without doing their own research first. Every major historian in this world would say Alexander the Great was of Greek heritage. Thats like saying that the Earth is not round, its flat.

Insulted yes, frustrated yes, astounded from their nonsenses yes. But not tired.
It is quite incredible how a Slavic/Albanian state tries to steal a part of Greek History!

Greeks are reacting exactly the way every country in the world would have reacted.

How do you think Italy would have reacted if a new country decided to call itself Republic of Venice?

How do you think Germany would have reacted if a new country decided to call itself Republic of Bavaria?

How do you think England would have reacted if a new country decided to call itself Republic of Essex?

To Flavius/Plava/Gonem/Anastaci/ laoplano (the same person with many IDs) :
I do not use your methods. Radko is real and he is a Slav-Macedonian who knows he is a Bulgarian.

Radko is me laoplano. Ask your mother. Report It

I know the question is for Greeks but i sympathize you all ! about this just pain skopia does not have much Glitter now you put Makedonia on the side and you getting attention !

Stop stirring up trouble.
This section has enough nastiness without you adding fuel to fire!

Insulted yes, tired not.

Tiring has nothing to do with it.

A citizen is proving his patriotism in difficult times.

There are many citizens with no sense of patriotism or even with no sense of nationality that find this and every national issue, unpleasant for their little life. Let them be.

As for the rest of us, we must be there against every propaganda and in every call of duty.

and I dont mean be there, in yahoo answers, this forum is the least.

Add: I would like to suggest you to avoid calling them Macedonians anyhow. There are many alternatives for their name.

Add: Far, which Macedonians are you talking about ?

I can not understand how a state of Slavs,Albanians and Gypsies, accept and want to named with a foreign for them title:Macedonia. If you ask those guys if they believe that Alexander the Great was Greek, they are gonna answer you:"of course",although they name their airport "Alexander the Great". If you ask them if they believe that have Greek blood they gonna answer you: "No"
So why they want to called with a foreign name? I wont be proud if my country decided to renamed(they called as "Vardarska" until 1946) as Rome,Paris,London or New York.

I only have one thing to say: Macedonia IS Greece. Visit: http://www.LiveFromMacedonia.com or http://www.Macedonia.com and see for yourself...

I would like to apologize to my Greek friends for all those provocations and propaganda by my state.

I am an activist from the Former Republic of Macedonia.

I had been a victim of violence from civilians and the state. They oppress me and my party because we declared that the Slavic people of FYROM are of Bulgarian origin.

They want to believe that they are related to the Ancient Macedonians. They think that their blood is pure because they are little blonde.

They are as closer you can get to Nazism today.

I demand Freedom and Democracy in FYROM !

No more Nazis !

Well, I can't pretend I disagree with the answers given, but we should all listen to asimenia and stop giving her thumbs-down!
Questions like this, however reasonable might they be, do nothing but provoke macedonians and lead Greeks to express nationalistic views...

EDIT: I'm talking about FYROM-ians! And I mean I partly agree with ragzeus answer...

EDIT: Radko, well said! You shouldn't apologize though, we have learnt to confront foxy and tricky questions like this one!
