Best Greek islands?

Hello, I am going on a 鈥渕other and daughter鈥?holiday in June. We want to go to a Greek island. Please could someone recommend the very best place to visit? Must have:
-excellent beaches
-away from the typical 鈥淏rits abroad鈥?resorts

Thanks ever so much!

Paxos is a beautiful island, peaceful and very pretty. One of the smallest islands I think. A place to truly relax.

Have a lovely time.

Crete is Brill been back 3 times with family.
Try Rhethymon

I dont now anything about this "brits abord" stuff (cuz Im american) but i know a guy who loves lesbos. He goes there all the time and says it beautiful.

p.s. Idk if i spelt lesbos right.

I have been to greece quite a few times (kos, zante, corfu) and in my opinion kos is the nicest. its small and still not overun with british lager louts! i stayed just outside Kardemena which is nice because its away from the busy town but a short walk if you want the hustle and bustle. good luck i hope you enjoy your holiday!

Crete is lovely, has some 'Brit' resorts but we found a hotel about 5miles from Malia (which is a Brit resort) that was great, very relaxing, world renowned spa and a great beach, Hotel Royal Mare (pronounced Ma ray). There are some great places to visit and some lovely towns Agios Nicholas (think that's the spelling), is really nice to visit and the Roman ruins at Knossos is a good day out.
The Cretian people are friendly and very family orientated.
You'd have a great time

The best island I went to was Tilos in the Dodacanese. It is tiny but it is the old Greece. It doesn't have an airport - you have to take a hydrofoil from Rhodes. There are lovely beaches, deserted coves, wonderful walks, family run tavernas - and no lager louts. We had one of our best holidays ever there.

Crete. Try the town Chania, Crete, it used to be the old capital.

This is the place i stayed. Its much more beautiful now, with shrubs and trees grown. A 45 min bus journey to Chania and the airport. But up and down the road on literally a 5 min walk are lovely cafes, resturants and shops. Not to busy at all!

The beach has won a Blue Flag for its cleanliness! And its littlerally over the road. They also offer amazing excursions you can take part in.

Hope you enjoy your holiday wherever you go!

Lefkas is very pretty - Crete is fantastic and its such a big Island - avoid Malia very good beaches but clubland - Corfu again very pretty but avoid Kavos ( Unless Clubber ) Rhodes OK but I would go for Crete as it offers so much.
Where ever you chose relax and enjoy yourselves !

Paros.

However, I think you have to fly to Mykonos and get a boat to the island, but it's well worth it!

Pefkos on Rhodes is a lovely place and isn`t typical Brits abroad. Santorini is the most beautiful of the Greek Islands and has some great sandy beaches, although the sand is black. In the village of Oia you can loose yourselves wandering through the meandering narrow lanes and see the vivid coloured houses, that you see on all the cards of Greece, tumbling down the cliffs, just FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kefalonia - absolutely stunning, and the food there is just the best in all of Greece.
Fantastic beaches with some quiet areas and some watersports activities.
We were on a beach all on our own and suddenly a huge turtle swam up to us!
You can find lots of nice restaurants where the locals go as well as some touristy places if you do feel like chatting to people.

Paros!

I lived 6 months in Greece , - the island of Lesvos in Mitilini , and i had a lot of fun .. the island is great , a lot of beaches and not so many brits , it close to Turkey ( 2 h with a small boat ) .. A lot of things to be seen ...
Party hard !

I would definitely not recommend Lesvos,,,however Kefalonia is a nice island to go to,,,,

Lefkada (Lefkas) - Best beaches in Greece. No Brits abroad apart from Nidri - but tends to be families - not rowdy Brits.
Need a car to get to the best beaches - hire one - definitely worth it! Really 'forgotten' villages in the mountains - if we go up there I forget I'm in Lefkada!

Parga on the mainland is wonderful too - again to truly see it - hire a car and you'll see 25km of unspoilt beach from Parga to Preveza .... and again from Parga to Igoumenitsa - there is nowhere in Greece more beautiful than the mountain/sea shore of Ipirus! I know I've been nearly everywhere in Greece!

I'd choose Crete, Panormos(adorable little town 20 km from Rethymnon) or Chania(it's magical). Kalamaki has beautiful beach.
Cyprus is also beautiful, I'm sure you'd love it. Not a Greek island but definitely a great idea for a summer trip with your daughter :)

SKIATHOS

go to paleohora great relaxed atmosphere and lovely beaches

Not an island, but certainly worth the try: Halkidiki in northern Greece!

Thassos. Wonderful beaches, not over commercialised, very laid back.

I recommend Poros in the Saronic gulf. You can get a cheap return to Athens with easyjet and then a hydrofoil takes one hour from Piraeus to Poros Town. You won't find many Brits but you will find excellent beaches, great scenery and superb restaurants. There are also great connections by hydrofoil and catamaran to nearby islands such as Hydra, Spetses and Aegina.

Serifos!

Paros and than Corfu :)

Kefalonia, been there 9 times. Best beaches around especially if you hire a car.

Stoupa on the Mani peninsula is beautiful - lovely beaches...no larger louts, also Parga on the mainland opposire Corfu is quite pretty

For girls it must be Lesbos.

lesbos

Crete or if Italian is your stuff, then go to Sicily.
