What is the fastest you have driven on a highway or interstate?

Back in 1990, I did 145mph in my brother's 5.0 ltr Ford Mustang on a brand newly open portion of an interstate.

70 m.p.h.

120mph in a 1991 honda accord

75-80 m.p.h.

120

Odd Q, no offense.

Since I never had a desire to TEST the ability of a vehicle, other than that it takes me from point A to point B, and knew that even if you passed me, I'd still get to the same place within fractions of an hour, and having to navigate against other drivers doing 45 in a 65 MPH limit, in the far left lane, with the right blinker on, while looking around as if they were birds looking to find a nest spot, I only test the LAW in the vague sense that most people believe that within 5 miles over, they may be left alone, by troopers, etc.

I might be upset, if my Speed O meter said 120, and I tried to bury the needle, and then at some point had to call AAA to come tow me. Life is fast paced enough just experiencing a normal, daily routine, why rush it, even for the adrenneline?

In the mid sixties I had a '57 Ford that I struggled to install an engine from a '57 DeSota. This was a 354 cubic inch Hemi. It took lot's of work and many bucks to get things fabriated. Rather than going with a super hot cam, I decided to sat a GMC 6-71 blower on top with a 4 port fuel injector. Only the cleaner/scoop stuck through the hood. Tourque Flight Transmission and beefed up Ford rear end. Would it do wheelies, but not to good at the drags. the condition of that thing today wouldn't be allowed near a drag strip.

We got it up to 147 MPH constantly with the windows down and a couple of fools hanging out the windows. Ten thousand bucks and I had something good for one thing only, out running cops.

In 1969 I bought a 500cc Kawasaki for $995, it would do the 1/4 mile in 12 seconds flat and 0-60 in under 4 seconds. A simple change of the 15 tooth front sprocket to a 16 tooth and it would do 135. That was wild, just hanging on.

I've driven safely at a sustained 100mph on many occasions but the most mind boggling thing that ever happened to me at that speed was that I got passed at 120 mph .It was at night .It was on I-80 in Nevada before there were speed limits .I was driving a '68 Sedan de Ville and somebody in something low and foreign flashed their lights once, I moved over and they blew past me like i was sitting still and then rapidly disappeared into the night.

Pegged my wife's Intrepid out at 120 mph on I-59/20 west of Tuscaloosa about 2 years ago.
Fastest I've driven was at Talladega in a race school, hit 175mph.
