Road Trip!?

Is there a way to figure out how much money im going to spend on my road trip? Its going to be about 900 miles from North Dakota to Michigan. I need to save as much money as i can...Please HELP!!!

why Michigan? thats my home town and i would like to see my family. I haven't seen the for atleast 6 months.

/ To calculate this, you need to exhaggerate variables so you can make sure you have enough time, and money.

First, figure out how many miles you will drive total (going and coming back) = 1,800 miles total.

Now, divide how many miles per gallon you get with the vehicle you are driving (let's say 18 mpg).

Now, figure how much gas costs for your vehicle. Let's say $3.00

That's 1,800 miles divided by 18 miles per gallon = 100 gallons.

100 gallons at $3.00 per gallon = $300.00 for gas.

Okay, that's the gas - $300.00

Now, assuming you will drive 55 mph, and you are going a total distance of 1,800 miles... it will take a little over 32 hours of total driving back and forth.

To get there, will take 16 hours at 55 mph. Can you do that in one day without stopping? If not, will you pull over at a rest stop to sleep for a few hours, or will you spend the night at a motel? There is more expense.

How much will you spend on food?

Are there any toll roads?

That's for you to tally...

Have fun, and wear your seatbelt :)

michigan why.go to new york,mathatten

I would bring at least 1500, probably more. Gas prices are high and you need to eat and drink. I would bring more though if you are staying in a hotel. Plus there is also a fee for sightseeing and shopping.

Hi.

How many miles per gallon does your car get?
As an estimate....say your car gets 20/miles per gallon
900 divided by 20 = 45 gallons of gas needed to go 900 miles.

So....$3.00 (average price per gallon) x 45 = $135 for gas

You will probably need to spend the night somewhere and make it into a 2 day trip. Kind of hard driving 900 miles in one day! So....figure a motel bill also.

Then food.

~ gas
~ motel
~ food
~ extra money for when you get there!

Have fun!
