Thinking of moving to Lexington,Ky....advice?

I am thinking of moving to Lexington and would like to hear what people think of the city. It is my son (will be almost 6) and myself. What is the average rent for a 2 bedroom? How is the crime? etc... Any areas to avoid?

i lived there for 5 years! well it is very nice and people are VERY friendly. rent is average i guess, i lived in a house though.

There really is no crime, and very little slums/bad parts of town. kids tend to be nice (not all of course).

basically its a "good ole home" place. very nice, wish i could move back. enjoy it there!

i wanna move there when i get older!

Be sure and knock out one of your front teeth just so youll fit in.

I grew up in Lexington, and lived there for 22 years.
It's a great place to raise a family, truly. Practically no crime, and extremely friendly and courteous people. No real places to avoid, just know that the north side of Lexington is relatively ghetto. Average 2 bedroom apartment - probably around 500-700. Cheap place to live, small intimate downtown. Check out this site, it's Lexington's newspaper The Herald-Leader : www.kentucky.com

I live close to Lexington in Cincinnati and I have a couple friends in Lexington. Is there a certain reason for wanting to move there? It's a pretty nice city, low crime. There's not too much to do there, but it's a nice safe place. The rent is not too expensive either. If you go on www.rent.com you can look up apartments and see what the rent is like. It's not expensive to live there though. Good luck!
