What's the best ski town to live in?

Moving to the mountains after college and was wondering if anyone had any advice on the best ski towns/cities. looking for good nightlife and outgoing people. love to snowboard, kayak, hunt and fish. Looking to bartend and board instruct durring the winter and fishing hunting guide in summer. Any advice?

My favorite ski town is Jackson Hole, where I have lived for over 10 years. It is absolutely breathtaking, the skiing is world class, the Snake River and a few others keep kayakers and fisherman very happy and the community and nightlife is active. Most all of the ski towns in the Rocky Mountain West though will provide what you are looking for ... excellent skiing, snowboarding, kayaking, hunting, fishing, great people and a good nightlife. This is what ski town living is all about. Towns like Aspen, Jackson Hole, and Durango are more out of the way where Summit County, Colorado and Park City, Utah are more accessible to major cities if you need a place that is more accessible.

Try to start looking for housing in September or April after the prior season ends when there is more turnover in jobs and apartments.

It depends on what your looking for. Salt Lake has the best skiing in the US IMHO. 500 inches of fluffy DRY snow a year. Park City 20 minutes up in the mountains has a great nightlife. If you hike to find fresh snow it is extremely rewarding. Snowbird, Solitude, Brighton, Alta, Deer Valley, The Canyons, Park City, Snow Basin, all within 30 minutes of the valley. Don't believe everything you hear about the religious fanatics, they are 400 miles away on the AZ border.
