Help! Immigrant US visa question...?

I was petitioned around 1994 by my mother who was already an american citizen for an immigrant US visa. Till now im still unmarried. How long does it will take for my immigrant US visa will be approved? I am already 32 now. I was 19 then. Please help!

What is the problem with becoming a legal resident until then.
