Should I move to England, Ireland, or Scotland?

I'm contemplating a move to the UK for a year or two and can't make up my mind about where to go. I'm not particularly interested in a super-metro area such as London, but a smaller urban area would be nice. Which place do you think has the best cost-of-living, sights, and decent weather?

There are lots of differences, so make sure you make a throoughly informed decision. I love Scotland, like England, don't like Wales. Never been to Ireland.

Somewhere like Brecon or Carmarthen in Wales has no decent weather (unless you like dull grey skies and drizzle). But living is cheap and there's beautiful countryside. No one will like you though.

Scotland has mainly rural, gorgeous areas but there's some suburban areas - outside Glasgow, or in Inverness. Someone mentioned Aberdeen - it's very dark and grey there but it's a nice town. The buildings are made of granite which makes it depressing in the rain. You're unlikely to be liked there either, unless you're Scottish.

England has lots of areas. Gloucestershire is very rural, but a town/city like Gloucester, Cheltenham (very very nice but probably expensive), or Bristol is beautiful, nott oo busy, and has pretty decent weather.

Southwest England probably has the best weather, although this isn't saying much!

There's so much to see in all of those places, although if sights is really important then I would suggest Ireland, so much natual beauty.

Scotland would be your best bet. Not the larger cities like Glasgow or Edinburgh because the cost of living is too high but maybe somewhere like Inverness or Aberdeen.
The scenery, history, culture & natives are great & the weather is not as bad as you might think.

You should move to Ireland, its great. Much better than any part of England or Scotland. The people are great, the lifestyles great and the country's great. You would probably love it.

Before making a life altering decision, why not first visit all the different areas, and see what you like?

And there is no decent weather in the UK- that is why we all moan about it all the time! Even when it's hot we moan... in fact, we just like whinging...
