Scottish Independence?

Why exactly do the Scottish want independence?
And does Wales also want independence as well?

Think you in advance for many, many useless answers

This is exactly what I mean, I want more to the answer than "English are bad"

I can't say the true, it's dangerous

Because every nation has a right to be independent.
Both Wales and Scotland have a right to choose who their leaders should be and the right to determine their own future .
Ireland made that choice 88 years ago and has become a very prosperous nation within the Europe.

I can only speak for the people of Scotland. We have have been a free nation and proud people for centuries before the 'act of union'. Since 1707 we have been sucked into a client and dependency culture with England and Westminster. It is time for our mature nation to assert its settled will, which goes well beyond the bounds and limitations of devolution. We would wish to be friends and equal partners of England, each with our distinctive economy and culture. Two nations separate and free with mutual respect and autonomy. I would gladly accept a free Scotland even were we economically poorer..at least it would be a responsibility of our own making. Our Scotland would include and embrace all races and cultures sharing common values and aspirations.

If YOU had to put up with the neighbours that Scotland has, then you too would want independance.

Everything is England-orientated.

Take yesterday's Rugby. At 10pm, England had just beaten France and the English commentators said "Well that looks like England versus Ireland will be the championship decider", ignoring the fact that NOBODY has yet beaten Wales.

And that is typical of the attitude of England to ALL of its neighbours.

And WHY is it that ONLY the English oppose Scottish Independance? Because the English know that without the Scots, England would soon sink into the economic depths of a third-world state. Scotland has the oil. England has their arrogance.

Most English i know want Scotland to get it's independence,
When Fiona says the English dont want Scotland to get it's independence, it's not the English, but the UK Government.
And who is the PM of this government?
Gordon Brown a Scot, Labour needs the Scottish votes to get back in power, so if the Scots really want independence, why do they keep voting Labour?

Because they are a bunch of sulking idiots saying they want independence yet they completely rely on English subsidies to keep their economies running. Students at Scottish universities dont even have to pay back student loans (which is a grant of the government based in London) unlike the English students who must pay it back. The scots get a free loan and its coming mostly out of our pockets (English taxpayers) and the c*nts moan that they want independence. It f*ckin p*sees me off big time. Pr*cks!!

i don't see why we cant work as one nation as i always say united we stand divided we fall is that not how nations are formed different groups becoming one.
i mean both England and Scotland and wales and northern Ireland are great country's so why cant those great country's work together to be one great nation of which we could so be. the problem with today i think is that people are to divided i think we need to be more united in a world like today with massive threats.
