Where to go on vacation in UK?

I will have a two week vacation and want to go to the UK. I have never been there and want a place that is not a common tourist spot. I'd like something with a younger crowd, I am 24. I would prefer somewhere without any anti American sentiment. A place with decent prices for a hotel, or possibly just rent a furnished room. I just want to go out and have a few drinks and meet some new and interesting people.

As a traveller, you are very unlikely indeed to encounter anti US sentiment wherever you go in the UK If its cities youre after it would have to be London or Edinburgh, if its the wilds youre after try, The Cornish coast, Dartmoor, Snowdonia or the Scottish highlands and Islands. Carefully plan your visit and you might be able to take in two or three of these places.

The UK is England, Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland altogether.
Which part of the UK are you visting?

English people just like having a moan....I would realy, realy recomend something like renting a canal boat, that way you get to meet some awsome folk, are not stuck in one place and can get best access to some of the best Pubs for food and drinks anywhere. Great for entertaining anyone you meet and a possitive bonus for exploring some lesser known attractions and meeting a wider diversity of people. Great cruise from Oxford to Braunston and then Down to Watford or London. Loads of info on the Web and is a relaxing way to see UK mainland without being caught up in the 'masses' of tourists who just sit in traffic jams all-day long or spend hours waiting for trains that don't exist and are over full of commuters anyway. Yes, canal boat is a good way to see more, relax and enjoy, pull up where you like and cruise when you choose.

Fowey, in Cornwall is a nice place for young people to meet others of their own age, it's fun, friendly, and many nationalities gather there during summer. It's a lovely small town, and it attracts a better class of tourists, than your average "Brits on the pi$$". There are lots of water sports you can get involved in, or just soak up the gorgeous scenery, and atmosphere. There are some superb unspoilt beaches nearby, and also the Eden Project nearby. All highly recommended.

Brighton Beach, in Sussex England, is less than hour from London and attracts university students, tourists and artists from England and around the world. They come for the beach, with its windsurfing and jet skiing, but also for the nightlife. The area has hundreds of pubs and nightclubs as well as funky boutiques and antique shops. Palace Pier is a nineteenth-century seaside amusement center with rides and games and arcades. You can even try bungee jumping at Brighton marina and West Pier.
