British passport???? plz HELP?

Long story but i desperatly need help.

My mum was born in australia but i have english grandparents and i was born in england. I tried to get a passport but because my mum is australian and does not have her birth cirtificate i can not get one.

But because i gain my national status from her apparently. I turn 18 in november so do you think that i wil be able to get one then or does anyone know any way of me getting one at all??????? thanks x
