"food for thought"-what does this mean?

"food for thought"-what does this mean?

an idea, or concept that will get you thinking.

Or during an argument with my husband, when I have disagreed with him over something, and give him my reasons why, I have said, "Now that's given you food for thought" - let him stew over that one!!

you've been given something to think about

Sounds like u have a severe problem and your desperate so you're looking high and low for solutions that you'll never find. Good luck.

food for thought - anything that provides mental stimulus for thinking

Is something that requires cogitation, needs thinking about. Like sitting to digest a good meal befor racing around , something that feeds the mind with further quetsions and answers, stimulates it to higher levels of thought. Your question could be regarded as food for thought, a good little appetiser anyway.
