What's the difference between a metaphor and a simile? |
What's the difference between a metaphor and a simile? Metaphor: My boss is a bear. A metaphor is where you say something is something else, a simile is where you say something is like something else. You can tell the difference because similies have "like" or "as" (as something as) somewhere in them. simile is like and as Vice versa a metaphore is saying something is something else. One looks like someone you think you know...Metaphor Simile is LIKE...Metaphor IS. Metaphor: In place of a simile is when you compare something to something else using AS, AS or LIKE Metaphor: My car is like a Horse A metaphor replaces a real object with how a person sees it - eg. a Porsche is a metaphor for mans desire for strength and desirability, while a simile compares something real with something else real, eg. a Porsche is like a Volkswagen Beetle on a diet. funny question about travel.!! |
