Do you trust 'Trip Advisor'?

I'm not sure it's true. So many of the entries have the same grammatical error 'the staff was excellent'. I reckon someone sits there typing up all the reports and gets paid for it. What's your experience?

I have tried it but prefer http://www.realholidayreports.com/
I also very often look on
http://www.fco.gov.uk/servlet/Front?page...
To see if there is a problem with the place i am travelling to.
Just click on travel Advice by country.
But on any travel site, you have to read between the lines of peoples reports, some people are very very fussy, my son in in India and the guy he travelled with complained he couldn't get Engish tea, they were in INDIA for gods sake. he complained it took a long time to be served with a meal, these countries don't rush things. When in Rome. do as the Romans do, so the saying goes. So you have to look at the whole view of the person. Are they complaining about everything, or do they have some good things to say.

No problem, glad i could help. I find real holiday reports really good and have left many reports of my own. Report It

It wouldn't surprise me. I have heard of many companies doing that.

I travel a lot and contribute to Trip Advisor...I use it to learn about places I am going to for 1st time and for hotel info...I always take into account the overall comments about a hotel as what is important to one reviewer might not be important to me...but generaly you can get a good feel for a place...and I find it a good source for information.

im not so sure i trust it,
i looked at it before i went on holiday and they said my hotel was rubbish, and dirty, with mice and ants

But when i got there it was lovely and clean, the maind came EVERY day and was the total opposite of what the site had said.

I've belonged to trip advisor for over 3 years. I always write up my own review when we return from holidays. I've also chatted with people on line and actually met some people from trip advisor during my travels. Maybe the hotels write some reviews, but definately not all of them. I believe most are from travellers.

They always make the hotels i stay in sound dirtier and worse than they turn out to be.

If i listened to it i would of never stayed in them! But they have all turned out to be lovely and well kept.

I do think they try and push you towards a selection of hotels and diss the others

Nope
