Can I reserve a hotel room if I'm under 18?

My parents are letting me go on a vacation alone to Chicago and I'm 17. If I call ahead of time and have my parents talk to them or something, will they allow me to reserve a room?

Hotel policies vary, so the only way to know for sure is to call and ask. For most places you need to be at least 18 or 21 with a credit card and ID to check in.

of course you can. They are only interested if you can pay for the room. If you can prove that you have the money for the room.... done deal.

Technically you're not. BUT i'm 17 and when i booked a holiday (hotel plus appartment) they did not ask for my Date of Birth or anything of the sort, they did state that you must be 18 but they did not question anything once i had a debit card to pay for it.

Have your parents make a reservation...and you should be ok

I WORKED FOR A MAJOR HOTEL AND NO WE WOULD NOT LET A 17 STAY BY HIM SELF EVEN IF THE PARENTS BOOKED THE ROOM. WE WOULD LET YOU STAY IN A ROOM BY YOUR SELF AS LONG AS A PARENT WAS ALSO CHECKED IN TO THE HOTEL. THE REASON IS WE WOULD BECOME RESPONSIBLE FOR YOU AND IF SOME THING HAPPENED TO YOU IT WOULD BE OUR FAULT. HOTELS HAVE TO CARRY A HUGE AMOUNT OF INSURANCE AND IT DOES NOT COVER MINORS WITH OUT PARENTS. IF WE LET YOU STAY AND SOME THING HAPPENED TO YOU YOUR PARENTS WOULD OWN THE HOTEL.
