Where is the best place for a 5 day holiday within a 2.5 hour drive of Zurich, Switzerland? |
My wife, baby and I want to take five days (Saturday-Wednesday) one of the next 3 weeks. We'd love to go to St. Moritz, but it is fully booked. We'd like to get 1 or 2 days of skiing in, but having a nice area for us to explore with shopping, restaurants, nice scenery/hiking is even more important. We were thinking Davos, but would be open to anywhere including outside of Switzerland. Any help would be much appreciated. Zermatt is out as we have already visited and also have recenlty been to Schruns, Austria, Thanks. Besides the places already mentioned above, what about: i dunno... ive been to lugano... its beautiful :D Lucerne was said by Richard Wagner, the opera composer, to be the most beautiful place on earth! Don't know, but we're going to Grindelwald. Go to Lucerne. It's gorgeous, on a large beautiful lake, with mountains all around it, and lots of the stuff you want either close by (within an hour or two) or right in the town, including skiing. We spent 2 weeks in Switzerland, and we went there twice, we loved it so much. Go to Luzern. It is a beautiful city. i actually just got back from Luzern and Zurich. In luzern, there is the dying lion of luzern monument, the chapel bridge, lake luzern, many churches, great views and shopping. Mt Rigi and MT Pilatus are beautiful day trips from luzern and you can go to the top and get beautiful pictures. Davos is the best place for Skiing in all of Europe. Great restaurants and decent shopping is available. Your about an hour or two from the Lake Como, which is beauitful ,quaint and great food. Possibly depending on the weather you could go for a charming boat ride on the lake. Take your camera. I'm in St. Moritz...maybe try Klosters or Pontresina, Poschiavo, both are near St. Moritz |
