Out of your little 鈥榗orner of the world鈥?what are the 5 BEST things about living there?

Also name 3 things you don鈥檛 like about it, or would want to change.

5 best things --
1) Trains go everywhere - no need to drive
2) Your dog can (often) accompany you even into a 5 star restaurant, and the waiters will bring it water. Also most hotels allow dogs.
3) Mountains and lakes. The country is like a motivational poster rendered in 3D.
4) Location in middle of Europe, so it's easy to travel to different cultures -- and the country itself is highly influenced by other cultures, with 4 languages and highly distinct regions.
5) Well organized. Things work.

3 frustrating things --
1) Grocery stores (and everything else) are closed on Sundays. Without proper planning, you can find yourself doing most of your shopping at the bahnhof or the flughafen, where the opening hours are more flexible. Also many shops close at lunch, and early in the evening.
2) The quiet nosiness of neighbors. Anonymous notes in mailboxes with underlined parts of ordnances. The sense that everyone else has read the rulebook except you.
3) Conservative.

- We have everything within relatively short distances (lakes and mountains) and still have different cultures (we have 4 languages (German, Italian, French, Roman))
- we have excellent social security and health care systems
- we have pretty low unemployment rates
- people make a decent living
- we are politically neutral

what I don't like so much:
- Swiss people feel inferior to others (I don't know why)
- We work too much
- smoking is still allowed in public areas :-)

We are in the heart of Europe so easy and quick travel to France,Italy,Germany,Austria etc.

A country which offers a great scenery and good food

It's clean and well organised and takes pride in nature protection.


Some swiss might be a bit uptight and I miss the smiling faces...

Freedom and promoting the feeling of being ALIVE is not worth trading for cleanliness, functionality and precision.
Living here 4 a long time kills your soul.
I wish they'd just bomb the whole place.
