What is the best way to get from Basel Airport to Grindelwald?

I will be arriving in Basel on the 10th of January. I was wondering if i should rent a car, or get the train to Grindelwald? Will there be alot of transfers if i get the train? How will i get to Basel train station?
If i rented a car, would the driving conditions be ok near the mountains? I can get a car for 250 euro. How much would trains cost me?
Thanks for the help!

the best is taking a train, you will have to change trains once in Interlaken. during the Winter driving in the mountains is dangerous. you can obtain Ticket prices going to SBB.ch this is the national railroad company....
have fun skiing

Train is the most convenient means of travel from Basel Airport to Grindelwald.

Visit www.sbb.ch change the language to English first on the top border of the website and type

basel airport and grindelwald.

You will find train connection where you only change the trains twice.

See example:

Basel, EuroAirport ab 11:07 Bus 50
Basel SBB, Bahnhof an 11:24

Basel SBB ab 11:30 8

Interlaken Ost an 13:28 7
Interlaken Ost ab 14:05 2B

Grindelwald an 14:39
Dauer: 3:32

I agree, take the train. I think the best for you would be the Swiss Transfer Ticket, which covers your journey from Basel airport (the bus is just outside the main door; I have no idea where the rental cars are) to Grindelwald (or possibly just Interlaken, but you would get a discount on the last bit as well) and back, and then gives you 50% off most trains, but only I think 25% off the Jungfraubahn. I think it's less than 200 CHF.

By train. Have a nice journey.

The train stations are underneath the airports, I would take the train. First of all, you'll be tired when you arrive and you
won't want to drive. Don't know how many transfers. The
train is a much more economical way to go.
