What is the food like in Switzerland?

What is the food like in Switzerland?

Easy:
1)Eastern Switzerland: close to German food (pork, potatoes, and the like
2)Western Switzerland: same as French food
3)Southeast of Swiztzerlan: Italian type food.
Of course specialities are from region to region as well.

Delicious, like most of europe.

i love the food of Switzerland. you have to remember that this is a mostly Alpine country, with cold winters. accordingly, their most famous foods reflect that, and tend to be on the rich/hearty side. their most famous staples (which you can google): raclette (melted cheese with boiled potatoes), fondue, and rosti (it's shredded potatoes fried in butter, presented in round pizza-shape). because of the close proximity to Germany, they also have lots of wursts in the German-speaking parts. veal wursts are particularly popular (usually served with rosti), and they are beyond comparison to anything you can have in the US. the Swiss has a long tradition of raising cows, so products related to them like cheese, milk (which is also in their famous milk chocolate), veal are some of the things that are commonplace. interestingly, pork and chicken don't seem quite as popular as cow/beef. in the Lac Leman area, i've been told fish from the freshwater lake is considered a staple; however, i didn't try any when i was there, so can't offer an opinion.
