What is the average rent in Barcelona Spain?

My husband and I will be living in Spain next year, for approximately 1 year. Can anyone tell me what we can expect as far as rental prices for 1 and 2 bedroom apartments? I'm not familiar with neighborhoods yet, so any advice there would be great too. Thanks!

Which neighborhood you choose will depend on what kind of neighborhood you like.

You might like living right in the center of town, near the Barr铆 Gotic, in the really old part, or near Las Ramblas, but that's going to be significantly more expensive than some other parts of town.

Eixample, maybe even more so, though it's much newer and bright and open, but it's a very fashionable part of town.

Go to gobcn.com. It's a really good site for rentals, and I'm not sure if they have long-term, but it might be a good place to start. If that doesn't help, try searching Barcelona Rentals or Apartments. And you could also try Madridman.com. He has a link to Barcelonaman, (I don't think he has his own website), but these guys live there, and they know their stuff. They have access to all sorts of information.

if you know spanish take a look at this page you can also use an online translator

1000 euros is the average monthly payment for a 2 bedroom apartment (piso) , but be aware the landlords and the realstate agencies may want to make a lot of cash from you , 1000 euros is what the locals pay for an unfurnished two room apartment, don't pay more than 1500 a month, be street smart and do an extensive research before deciding to rent.

the spaniards don't speak english at all, it is easier to find an english speaker in mexico than in spain ... and they do not speak spanish as a first language, the native language spoken in barcelona is "catalonian language", they feel unimpressed when they are being chatted up by someone speaking spanish specially when they are "guiris" [foreign people].

take care
bye!
