Do I need Tourist Visa for 2 week holiday to Spain?

I'm trying to find out if South Africans need a visa in order to go on holiday to Spain for 2 weeks. There seems much confusion about this. If south africans do need a tourist visa for spain, how do we get one - from where, who, what and why? I'm from the UK but live in SA as a resident but my friends want to go to spain with me but apparently need a visa just for a 2 week holiday. My dad lives in Spain and had never come across this before. I've looked into sites but none seem to specific about South Africans.

I found the below link to the Spanish embassy/consulate in Cape Town. All South African Citizens need a visa to enter the Shengen which is europe. Quite ridiculous - why do SA citizens need a visa to holiday in Spain ????

Your best bet is probably to go to the same place you would go for a passport. That's where we americans get our visas. Whether or not you need one, and all the applications should be available through that office, or they will tell you how to do it. You, as a British subject, with, I suppose, a British passport, shouldn't need anything special.
