How long does AFS take to except you?

How long does AFS take to except you?
I completed the long application and now there sending it to my first choice country. They said it will take 4-6 weeks. Will it actually take that long?

I'm guessing it'll take 4-6 weeks...

I think you mean accept you.

It depends on a few things -
like where you are located and where you wish to be.
It isn't like they are sitting on their hands waiting for you to submit your application, either. I suspect you are not the only applicant interested in an overseas experience.

Think about it, is 4-6 weeks that long, considering the length of the application ?
They need to take the time to really check out your application -
to study all the info you provided
and see if they have a 'match' host in the country you wish to visit.
Sure, it might not actually take that long.
But if the decision comes sooner, won't that be a nice surprise?

In other words, all good things take time!
Just try to chill out.
Take some deep breaths and think of what you will take as presents for your host family.....
Good luck and I hope you get your first choice country.

In asking this question the way you have you'll have to realise that by not accepting you, they have excepted you.
Perhaps language comprehension was a prerequisite.
