KIWIS: i bet you can understand this! others please try.?

hears a sentance i just made up. kiwis should be able to understand coz its kiwi slang.aussies shold aswel. i even read the graet britin could! so have a go at reading this and tell me what u think it means.

My father could be a bit of a dag at times. He'd be up at sparrow-fart yelling his head of at all the hoons and running down the street with his 22 under his arm. When the A & P Show came around he'd always be off in the boohai hunting deer and other what-nots. But one week when the Show came around he saw this jigantic deer who charged at him and what did dad do? He kicked the bucket and went to the boohai that really is a boohai

did you understand it?

we also dont speak like that all the time!

Yeah i did, but not boohai? I love the word 'dry' that Aucklanders use. I went to Nelson and my cussies there didn't understand the word.....(its means not funny btw) haha , oooo wanganui? My friend Sophia Harr茅 moved up to Auckland from there? Do you know her? She went to Wanganui Girls High :)

I understood what it means but 1) we really don't talk like that in everyday conversation and 2) you need help with spelling.

Good idea though. Amusing enough and you must have put a lot of thought in to it. But probably a bit "over the top". If you actually told this story in Australia/NZ pub - we will know straight away you are a foreigner (forget about the accent)

hahahaha....yes i understood it though my brows were knitted together...that lingo ooops slang was probably more in use in the 60' & 70's though........and older people may still use those phrases......its all good...

Yes I understand it. I'm an Aussie but I live in New Zealand. What on earth is a boohai? Lol. Never heard of that one before.

Agree about the spelling though.. That was the hardest part to read!

...

Whats not to understand perfect kiwi english, dont know what the rest of the world thinks? haha

didn't really understand the last sentence.
um..my dad could be a bit of a nutter at times. he'd be up at dawn...(early bird gets the worm sort-of thing) screaming his head off at all the hoons..running down the street with his gun under his arm. when the farm show came on he'd be off IN THE BOOHAI...
that bit doesn't really make sense...unless you mean he'd be in his own world, him and the tv? dunno.
hunting dear and others...one week he saw this GIGANTIC deer that charged...so he was hunting and then he was chased down by a deer, and then died. he then went to the boohai...doesn't really make sense mate.

I,m a South African who has been in NZ for quite sometime now and yes, I understood it because I am now familiar with your local slang. However, this is not the way the majority of the kiwis speak. You should try using spell-checks otherwise the ''others' will never understand you anyway. By the way, kiwis are very friendly people so good on you!

No trouble (but you really do need help with your spelling.)

One answerer asks what boohai is. It's a corruption of Puhoi, and it means you go beyond the black stump, then turn left (or right) and keep on going.

You are weird

I understand it to be a load of nonsense. I couldn't understand for a few minutes on tv last night when a NewZealander said they need a chick and came back with a cheque.
