Why was the u.s. so interested in the security of latin america?

Why was the u.s. so interested in the security of latin america?

because they are so near us and there has been talk awhile back about lots of people are coming through the borders and they are not just illegal aliens (mexicans) so you know we have to be careful of infiltration

Because if Latin America has problems, it affects us so deeply because of Proimity.

Remember the Cuban Missile Crisis?

In the 1900's through the 50's, Latin American nations were pretty much enslaved by U.S. corporation like the United Fruit Company, which had well-connected political influences like J.P. Morgan.

When farmers and workers began to unionize, the U.S. Corporations asked that the government send in the marines, which we did several times in a number of different Latin nations. When we put down the unions, we installed harsh dictators who could put down any further rebellions. The natural reaction to this was a movement toward Marxist revolution by the people.

That's when the CIA got involved, in the 50's through the 80's, and we really began killing en masse. 200,000 people in Nicaragua alone.

It's all about protecting our fruit and our coffee and some other resources that we need to have cheap, or our economy will be hurt more.

Because we want to control their markets, and we are an imperialist power masquerading as a freedom bringer. Study the history of CIA involvement in the illegal overthrow of latin american governments.
