Is it through that Malaria vaccine should be taken before traveling to Nicaragua?

We are moving to live in Nicaragua for 4 years assignment. So we need to know what vaccines should be taken before entering the country.

Depends on where you will be staying. Maleria is very much present throughout the rainforest in all of Central America. Your doctor can provide better advice since i don't know what area you'll be in. But most likely, 4 years.. you will need a couple. As for safety, Nicaragua is the safest country in Central America (google it), too bad Colombia can't be, they have too many kidnappings, murderers and other types of crime there. Kidnappings are virtually non-existent in Nicaragua so thats something to not worry about. The most common type of crime here (and everywhere else in Latin America) is petty theft like pickpocketting.

How dumb can you get? The answer clearly says malaria is 'very much present' and yet you have concluded that you don't need 'vacine' (sic). So you think mosquitoes do go into the cities? Report It

Presently there is no vaccine for malaria. You can however take prophylactic to cover yourself, such a Lariam (melfloquine). If mefloquine is recommended it should be started at least one week but preferably two to three weeks before travel to the malarious region. It should then be taken throughout the stay so that if you are bitten by an infected mosquito, there will be medicine in your blood to prevent malaria developing. Mefloquine should be continued for a further four weeks after leaving the malarious area so that there is still medicine in the blood to kill any remaining parasites released from the liver into the red blood cells during this time

See site below for health info for Nicaragua.

Doxycycline and Mefloquine are two of the most popular antimalarial drug. Either one has to be taken before arriving into the country.

I would also suggest Yellow Fever vaccine. Very common there. I would personally avoid Nicaraugua. Lots and lots of crime
